STATE OF THE SCHOOL ADDRESS

Our Local Chief Executive, the Honorable Mayor Nora Modomo, GPTA Officials, headed by Mrs. Cherry Ann Eugenio, teachers, parents, alumni, students, friends and guests, good morning. I am very much overwhelmed of your presence today as I am about to present the State of the School Address (SOSA) of Pilpila High School.
Pilpila High School is situated in a 5,000 square meters of land originally titled to Graciano Dela Cruz Domingo which was later acquired by the municipal government of Santa Ignacia. The land, later acquired by the government was donated to Pilpila High School through the effort of Municipal Mayor Reynaldo B. Modomo, MD. The road going to the school from Barangay Nambalan is cemented.
To date, the school has a teaching force consisting of fourteen (14) regular Teachers, headed by one School Head and one Administrative Assistant II.
Pilpila High School is a school that trains for service. It provides well- disciplined, value-laden and globally competitive graduates imbued with the essential knowledge and skills of productive citizens of the community.
Pilpila High School also commits to provide quality classroom instructions by imparting learning through competent and adequately trained teachers and staff who demonstrate desirable values and traits that shall explore all avenues to gain commitment and greater participation of stakeholders to school programs, projects and activities.
I am very grateful to all the faculty and staff for your hard work and dedication. We have accomplished a lot. We are very good. But we can be GREAT. My dear teachers, parents and stakeholders, our tasks indeed will go beyond to the highest realm of our individual calling. We become paragons of learning to our students as we continue ourselves to strive for excellence.
Just this year, we were able to harvest the fruits of our toils. The workforce comprise a strong and rich human resource which is evident in the awards and recognition garnered by teachers various contests. These competitions range from cluster, and division levels. It has also produced competent graduates who have become assets in their universities and colleges and in the community. Students coming from Pilpila High School are equipped with relevant skills which make them become more useful in the community.
Our endeavors are focused in the continuous improvement of our school’s performance. However, despite the efforts extended by the teachers still 35 out of 42 Grade 7 students been marked as non-numerates. Gladly to say, for SY 2021-2022, our drop-out rate is retained to 0%. The enrollment has also increased by 0.4%.
On the other hand, the school is also fortunate to have very supportive alumni who are willing to give donations. The PTA officials also work hand in hand with the school especially in the implementation of school programs and projects. For SY 2021-2022, participation of the PTA, meetings and conferences reached 67.6% both for general PTA meetings and the Homeroom PTA gatherings. Non-government organizations and other government agencies have made linkages with the school and have helped provide avenues for the development of potentials among the students.
Graduates of the school are privileged to be offered scholarships from the universities and colleges in the province. UP Manila-School of Health Sciences Tarlac sponsored one of our graduates Mark Julius C. Pame as he was able to past the screening procedure.
To strengthen the implementation of (ELARP) Every Learner A Reader Program, Pilpila High School has created a reading program to respond the needs of the students who have reading deficiencies. The essence of the Library Room gives an edge to avail reading materials not just for the students but for the teachers as well.
As to staff development aspects, School – based INSETs were conducted every year, attended by teachers. Almost all the teachers were able to attend Division-led trainings.
One of the paramount foci of the school is Supreme Student Government, and Youth Environment in School Organization as partners in attaining holistic development of the learners.
As an educational institution, the teachers are very important human resources, tasked to assist the learners in attaining knowledge and enhancing their skills and talents. There is a 1:21 teacher – student ratio as of S.Y.: 2021-2022. Hence, each teacher must skillfully balance the attainment of her lesson plans while making it sure that all the 21 students with various family backgrounds, attitudes and passions will be given equal opportunities for academic growth.
In the aim to further enhance the academic journey of each student and to fully implement of the K-12 Curriculum, Self-Learning Modules (SLM) and textbooks were provided.
This year, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao Club has lined up several activities and programs, like symposiums, trainings & lectures, personality development programs, career guidance program in order to further facilitate students. For S.Y.: 2021 – 2022, 95% of completers, while 92% of the graduates were able to attend the Career Orientation Program. Respected authorities from the Department of labor and Employment (DOLE) and Technology Enhancement and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) explained on the promising careers here and abroad. Student leadership trainings were also conducted by Supreme Student Government.
On the Physical Facilities, 3 classrooms has been renovated ready to use for our senior high school learners. Also, eighteen (18) spans of school fences have been built. However, there are still aspects where the school needs to focus and improve. These include but not limited to, computer facilities which are either obsolete or non-functional at all. With over 250 students, the school needs Science laboratory, T.L.E. laboratory, and a library that can accommodate them all.
The school also needs a stage is where various programs and school events may be held. Covered court is also needed for the convenience of everyone. For the past few years, students were just squatting behind the stage or sitting in front exposing under the scorching heat of the sun. Let us join hands together in looking for donors to support this project.
The school’s environment is relatively safe. We have night duty security guard to ensure that the equipment of the school is secured.
In the opening of a limited face-to-face classes last March 31, 2022, the school created a schedule by batch. Although not 100% of the students decided to attend class face-to-face, 91.6% of them choose otherwise.
As far as the non-instructional rooms are concerned, the school has a clinic where learners reached a temperature of 37.6° and high may rest a bit before going to their classes if their body temperature normalize. School clinic also served for students’ emergency medical needs. This is manned by two of the teachers who are nurse by profession.
In this age of mobile technology, multi-media equipment is very important. As of SY 2021-2022, a total of 21 OTG flash drive has been given where digital SLM are saved, also tablets has been provided by the DepEd and the government of Tarlac to enhance learning.
Amidst all these challenges, Pilpila High School stands as a growing institution. These legacies that we engrave to our students may be an instrument of hopes and inspirations that we are one in our quest to educate the young who are the future leaders of tomorrow. With your constant support and dedication, I doff my hat.
Today, marks another milestone of Pilpila High School, being the school administrator, I am honored to be so. There is no greater calling than to serve you all.
